Position Summary
The Assistant Venue Manager supports the Venue Manager in overseeing daily operations, ensuring smooth front-of-house service, and maintaining Bar Monte’s high standards. You’ll be hands-on during service, guiding the team, resolving guest issues, and ensuring every detail of the dining experience is delivered with care. This role also involves overseeing reservations, monitoring reports and wages, and contributing to the overall success of the venue.

About You

• Strong knowledge of bar operations, stock management, and COGS
• Skilled at team training, coaching, and developing service standards
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• Experience managing a large team in a high-volume venue
• Outstanding customer service and guest relations
• Wine knowledge is highly regarded; Italian food and beverage experience is a bonus but not essential
• Punctual, reliable, and able to thrive under pressure

Key Responsibilities

• Open and close the venue in line with Bar Monte standards
• Handle guest feedback and complaints with professionalism, ensuring positive outcomes
• Oversee wine service and support staff training in wine knowledge and service
• Manage reservations and booking systems to maximise guest experience and revenue
• Monitor bar stock levels, ordering, and COGS management
• Record and report maintenance issues directly to the Venue Manager
• Complete reconciliations and contribute to weekly management meetings
• Ensure key leadership team members are rostered for peak shifts (weekends, public holidays)
• Collaborate with the Venue Manager on marketing initiatives to drive revenue
• Lead by example in training, guiding, and supporting a large FOH team
